Survival dips at Sungai Liong, salinity to blame

August monitoring recorded a survival rate of 79.5 per cent at Sungai Liong, below the 82 per cent threshold the programme works to. Field checks found a salinity spike in the worst-affected plots, consistent with reduced freshwater flow from upstream through the dry season. A remediation plan is set: shift the species mix towards Avicennia marina in the affected plots and move the next planting window to the start of the wet season.
